Wayside Food Rescue operates a monthly mobile food pantry in Portland at three of our Public Housing Sites. Every resident is eligible and encouraged to take part in this free program. Applications can be found at the property manager’s office or at the food drop-offs.
Riverton food drop-offs are every third Wednesday from 3:00-4:00PM at 102-104 Riverton. Sagamore’s food drop-offs are every fourth Tuesday from 10:00-11:00AM at 21 Popham Street. Harbor Terrace's food drop-offs are every third Friday from 1:00-2:00PM at 284 Danforth Street.

Summer Lunch Program
Portland Housing Authority partners with East End Kids Katering to provide free, balanced nutrition meals to youth in public housing during the summer months. Lunches are provided at the Riverton Park Community Room, The Sagamore Village Community Room, the Kennedy Park Community Room and the Front Street Community room. see News & Events for More info.
University of Maine Cooperative Extension
UMaine Extension service offers “Garden Days” every year. On a spring day, Master Gardeners hand out free seedlings at each of the housing neighborhoods. They are also available to answer questions and help plan backyard gardens. Contact Amy Witt for more information.
Cultivating Community has a community garden in Kennedy Park. They run a weekly farmers market in Kennedy park and offer gardening support for residents.
